The terminal

Dark monitor filling the frame with an abstract field of glowing horizontal bars above a keyboard

In mid-January 2026, I opened a terminal for the first time since the semester I failed. AI was beside me. The return is exact: terminal, failed semester, mid-January, and an AI working alongside.

For two weeks, I felt like the dumbest person alive. Two difficult weeks held the entire struggle before it caught.

Then it caught. Three words mark the change. One capacity I already knew crossed into a new target: pattern recognition did not care what I pointed it at.

Charts. Ads. Funnels. People. Code. Different targets, same capacity. I could point pattern recognition at every one of them.

Pattern recognition does not care about the target. I can aim it at a chart, an advertisement, a funnel, a person, or code, and the capacity remains pattern recognition.

The terminal did not erase the first two weeks. Feeling lost and recognizing patterns became the two sides of the same return.

When purpose arrived, the inner voices stopped. Lights-out. Cold turkey. Overnight. Purpose and silence remain attached without a diagnosis or a mechanism between them.

Purpose arrived, and the inner voices stopped. Lights-out. Cold turkey. Overnight.

This was my first terminal since the semester I failed. That span made the return visible: the failed semester on one side, a terminal open again in mid-January on the other.

AI stayed beside me at the terminal. The learning remained inside my own pattern recognition.

Two difficult weeks. Then it caught. Charts, ads, funnels, people, and code all became targets for the same pattern-recognition capacity.

I returned to the terminal with AI beside me. First terminal since the failed semester. Two hard weeks. Then the catch, the pattern list, and silence when purpose arrived.

Pattern recognition does not care what you point it at. Charts, ads, funnels, people, code.
